Our planet is made up of biomes - an area that supports a distinct, self-sustaining group of organisms. There are multiple types of biomes, including rain forests, deserts, tundras and deciduous forests. The biome we'll be focusing on here is the shrublands.

Shrublands Questions:
1. What is the shrubland biome? How is it similar to other biomes? How is it different from other biomes?
2. What limiting factors do organisms in the shrublands face? How does this affect these organisms, and how do they adapt to survive in the shrublands?
3. Name a pair of symbiotic organisms. How do they interact with each other, what type of symbiosis is it, and why do they need each other?
✪ Extra Challenge Problem: Consider the following. You are about to go on a journey in which you live in a shrublands biome alone for one week. There will be no people to turn to, or buildings to take sheltered in- you'll be on your own in the wild. You are only allowed to bring a small backpack and the clothes that you wear. Your backpack can only carry five items. Knowing this, what do you think you would bring with you, and what would you wear? Why do you think that would be the most helpful to you?
